HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DOMINION!
On October 17th, 2008 The Dominion Femdom opened it's doors with a gala masquerade ball and changed things on the grid forever. Although there had been and continue to be other femdom communities on the grid, no one had seen anything quite like us before. The Dominion changed the game. We changed what femdoms looked like (oh wow - it's STYLISH) and how they were run (no men footing the bill or running the place??). In 2008 no one was doing events and discussions like we see today. And they certainly weren't doing them on voice. The Dominion changed all of that. Femdoms weren't talking about empowerment or feminism. In fact, femdoms weren't talking much about dominant women at all. There was a lot of submissive fantasy fulfillment, and Second Life play but not a whole lot else. The Dominion was shocking and polarizing and thrilling. Not everyone liked us but plenty of people loved us. And luckily, many of us found kindred spirits, a purpose, and a home.
I've always considered The Dominion to be a bit like a stone wall we've built together. Some people laid their stones and moved on. Their contributions strengthened us and remain for us to build on. Others continue the work and new faces bring fresh enthusiasm and passion. And so it continues. It's never been something any one person has done. We've done this together and made something wonderful and meaningful and unique. You should all be proud of it. I am.
Our week long, Sadistic 7th Anniversary Celebrations kick off today with loads of special events. We start with an anniversary discussion looking back and ahead followed by the opening of our 7 Sins Gallery Exhibit. The opening of our week long silent auction event kicks off with a live, musical performance by singer and pianist Xara Fiasco. And we wrap today's events with the start of our annual Witch Hunt Halloween mystery and some music with Dominion Sounds Blue - the Halloween edition.
We've got loads of surprises and fun ahead this week so make sure to keep an eye on group notices. We're going to wrap with our big Anniversary party on Friday and a special theatrical performance of The Little Shop Of Fucking Horrors on Saturday! it's going to be amazing!
To everyone who loves and supports our community, thank you. It's been a wild ride! Let's see what's next, shall we?
Here's some nostalgic for you - the teaser video for our grand opening, released October 11, 2008 and produced by my squirrel, Maz Giles.
Love,
Eva xxxx
