The Dominion Loves....

Each day of our week long Women's Leadership Series, The Dominion honours an inspirational female leader. Today we pay homage to...

IDA B. WELLS!

Why Ida B. Wells?

Born a slave, Ida B. Wells became a civil rights powerhouse considered the equal of her well-known African American contemporaries such as Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois.  A journalist, suffragette, and passionate anti-lynching crusader, she refused to give up her seat on the railroad, almost a hundred years before Rosa Parks.

The Dominion Loves....

Each day of our week long Women's Leadership Series, The Dominion honours an inspirational female leader. Today we pay homage to...

MARIE CURIE!

Why Marie Curie?

This Polish born and French naturalized physicist and chemist conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person (and only woman) to win twice, the only person to win twice in multiple sciences, and was part of the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes. She was also the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris, and in 1995 became the first woman to be entombed on her own merits in the Panthéon in Paris.
